Tutoring Trackers
Every student receives their own dedicated Notion workspace at the start of our work together — a single, organised hub shared with both student and parent throughout the year.
All lessons will be documented here via Notion Meetings which records a full transcript of the lesson, and summarises each meeting when it is finished. Notes can be made in real time by both tutor and student. Homework will also be set and submitted here, with the tutor able to annotate and write feedback accessible to the student.
Alongside this, students will be able to access a range of resources, including: mark schemes, example essays, past paper questions and essay toolkits for predicted questions.
For students, it means everything they need is in one place — no chasing emails, no lost notes, no uncertainty about what to do before the next lesson.
For parents, you can see exactly where your child is in the course, what's been assigned, and how grades are progressing — at any time.
The dashboard is updated after every lesson, so notes, next steps, and progress are always current.
Essay Toolkits
Each toolkit supports students in answering a predicted or past-paper question. Every GCSE and A-Level text comes with ten to fifteen of them, and I write more on request.
A toolkit gives students the raw material an essay needs: key scenes, characters, quotations and context. It also sets out a range of possible arguments and, where past questions allow, what examiners have rewarded and what they have penalised. I have refined these over several years, drawing on student feedback and on each new release from the exam boards.
As a result, students do not waste hours trawling the internet for context, and repeat few of the mistakes previous cohorts have made. They spend their time on the work that earns marks: analysing closely and shaping the material into a sustained argument.

Absolutely. Many students combine both one‑to‑one, and group sessions in the build up to exams. However, we do require that students stick with any group tuition booked for that term - the groups are courses of approximately 10 weeks, designed to ensure a consistent group environment lesson-to-lesson.

75% of university applicants do not achieve their predicted grades according to a 2020 study. Final grades are typically lower, as teachers predict optimistically to avoid disadvantaging their students in the application process. So even if school are predicting top grades, it’s sensible to take predictions with caution.
Nonetheless, even the best students can benefit from tuition. We aim to push marks well above the A* boundary and teach essay & study principles that can be used at university and beyond. -
Yes, students often opt to do more lessons as exams approach. Group intensives are held for AQA GCSE Language in February half term, and the Easter holidays.

Students typically improve between 1 and 3% on assignment scores per session - these are primarily based on past paper questions. A bump of 10% equates roughly to one grade boundary. As a result, an improvement around 1-2 grades is typical per 10 lessons (assuming assignments are completed).

Early in the academic year, an essay or series of multiple choice questions is typical ~ 1 hour of work. As exams approach, we will progressively move towards full past papers. The official time constraint on these is approximately 1.5 hours, though early attempts are expected to take longer.

Several current students with ADHD have moved up two grade boundaries since we began working together. -
Feedback will be given regularly on homework, and marks assigned for full essays and papers.
